to sleep, their parents come to say goodnight and ask them about their homework.
They start complaining about it and wish they lived in the Roman times
when children didn’t have to go to school. When they are asleep they
are transported to a Roman house.
SCENE 2
The scene is set in the Roman
house. Augusta,Celsus and Claudia are
sitting down on pillows and cushions.
Adam and Lizz appear in the house chained. They are
introduced to the family as the new slaves. They have to work hard in the house
and they are not allowed to go to school .Octavious catches Adam playing with a
toy and sends him to the amphitheatre to
fight with a lion.
SCENE 3
The scene is set in an
amphitheatre full of people. We could use a film proyector to show a picture of
a roman amphitheatre and a lion or children can draw it.
Adam is in the amphitheatre and he has to fight with a lion.. When the
lion is running after him, Adam faints.
SCENE 4
The scene is set in Adam and
Lizz bedroom
Adam wakes up and he realises
that he has had a nightmare.
The topic is appropriate to be performed with this age group. Children usually enjoy travelling to the past living as Romans did, wearing their costumes. In this play they learn another way of life and they can compare it to their own.
